MIKE ON TV: Talking Up Binge TV Viewing on G4's "Attack of the Show"

Sadly, G4's Attack of the Show will be going off the air at the end of December. There was a period of time (around 2007-2009) where I was a frequent guest on AOTS, riffing with hosts Kevin Pereira and Olivia Munn. (My favorite may be the time I got to participate in a retro show shot as if it was 1987).

But I hadn't been back in a while. So when I got a call to come appear on the show last week, I figured it would be a nice way to say goodbye to AOTS and get one last appearance in. Above, guest host John Barrowman -- yes, "Torchwood's" Captain Jack -- talks to Geek magazine's Nikki Griffin and me about what shows would be good to binge on over the holidays this year.

Luke, I'm Your Car Washing Daddy

I have a 7-year-old nephew/"Star Wars" fanatic who would FLIP over this: G4's "Attack of the Show" (hey, I know those guys!) is sponsoring a "Star Wars Charity Car Wash" on Saturday.

The event, held across the street from the Farmers Market at 3rd and Fairfax, will feature folks dressed as "Star Wars" characters (including the 501st Legion of Stormtroopers and a "fleet of Slave Leias") as they wash your car for just $10.

Proceeds go to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. The washing takes place between 1 and 4 -- so get there before the Slave Leias wise up!

MIKE ON TV: Blame Conan and Jay For My Media Blitz

Sorry for the light postings this week -- it's the Television Critics Assn.'s Winter press tour in Pasadena, and for once the networks are giving us some real news.

First it was NBC's whole Jay Leno/Conan O'Brien debacle, and then yesterday Simon Cowell's I'm-leaving-American-Idol-to-start-my-own-show announcement caused quite a stir.

People keep asking me to come on to talk about the news, and being the good media whore, I'm a boy who can't say no.

Above, I talk to G4's "Attack of the Show" on Monday afternoon about Jay/Conangate.

I've also been chatting a lot with reporter Brian Rooney and the fine folks at ABC News -- check out my appearances on "Good Morning America" and "World News Tonight" here and here.

MIKE ON TV: Dissecting the Fall TV Season on "Attack of the Show"

I discuss "V," "Flash Forward," "The Cleveland Show," "Vampire Diaries," and more, with host Kevin Pereira on Thursday's "Attack of the Show."

See Attack of the Show's Keyboard Cats in Person

A few weeks ago, G4's "Attack of the Show asked viewers to send in their artistic interpretation of the famed YouTube sensation Keyboard Cat.

What they came up with far exceeded what the AOTS team expected. The best entries were featured on the show, and now will also be showcased at Hollywood's Meltdown Comics. The free exhibit will put more than 130 pieces of the fan-submitted art on display.

Here's the catch: The pieces are only on display at Meltdown for one week. That's because several of the pieces will be auctioned off online to benefit Kitten Rescue.

The exhibit takes place starting Tuesday, Aug. 4, through Wednesday, Aug. 12, from 11 a.m to 10 p.m. It's at Meltdown Comics at 7522 Sunset.

Check out the winning Keyboard Cat submissions here.

MIKE ON TV: Did the Emmys Get It Right This Year? Chatting with G4's "Attack of the Show"

It had been a while, but "Attack of the Show" called up today to have me on and chat Emmys. Instead of appearing in an on-screen box, I sit down with host Kevin Pereira. And yes, I probably should have tucked my shirt in.

MIKE ON TV: Can "Heroes" Be Saved?

There's been a lot of talk lately about the declining ratings for NBC's "Heroes" -- and whether the show can find its way again. Here, I talk to "Attack of the Show" host Kevin Pereira about the show's chances.

MIKE ON TV: Japanese-Inspired TV, Anyone?

OK, I'm posting this anyway, even though I'm not lovin' how I came off this time. Here's me on "Attack of the Show" talking about the rise in primetime series influenced by Japanese TV.

MIKE ON TV: Kimbo Slice and Me

It had been awhile, but G4's "Attack of the Show" finally had me on last night... to talk about Mixed Martial Arts on broadcast TV. Specifically, the premiere of CBS' coverage of EliteXC MMA last Saturday night, featuring star fighter Kimbo Slice. (This generation's Mr. T?) Say what you want, the showcase scored great ratings for CBS, particularly among young men -- not a demo CBS usually attracts.

MIKE ON TV: G4 Kicks It, 1987 Style

As promised, here's a clip from last Friday's G4 series "Attack of the Show" featuring me. The episode was shot as if it were 1987, complete with cheesy graphics and references to the first Nintendo; "Max Headroom"; and the battle between Microsoft and Apple.

For the occassion, I pulled out a jean jacket, added some buttons, and wore a pastel shirt underneath. Viva 1987!

With So Many Pilot Episodes Leaked Online, Is It Good for the Networks?

Back so soon? Yup. Here I am on Thursday's G4 "Attack of the Show," discussing the growing numbers of pilots that have mysteriously appeared online, ready to be downloaded. Are overzealous marketing execs to blame (as if they'd ever admit it), looking to create some buzz by any means necessary? Or are there so many pilot tapes and DVDs out there, that they were bound to be uploaded?

Here's the video below:
