"We Came, We Saw, We Kicked Hunger's Ass!"

Fed Up With Hunger, which is working toward ending hunger in Los Angeles, is looking to scare up cans of food Sunday night via a screening of "Ghostbusters" at the Hollywood Forever cemetery.

In honor of the movie's 25th anniversary, anyone with just five cans of food can get inside for free. Pretty damn good deal.

More info here at the website for Fed Up With Hunger, which is sponsored by the Jewish Federation. But here's the gist:

Sunday, October 11th
Gates open at 6:00 pm
Movie starts at 7:30 pm
Admission = 5 cans of food per person

6000 Santa Monica Blvd
Hollywood, CA 90038
Street parking is available

Get together some friends and a picnic dinner (alcohol is okay), spread out on the cemetery lawn, and join the movement to end hunger in Los Angeles. Low-seating folding chairs (no tall chairs) and blankets are a good idea, too. Reservations are not required, but seating is first come – first serve, so be sure to get there early as the best spots fill up fast!

Here's background on the organization, featuring Debra Messing:

Post-Mortem Stargazing

Given the wild success of the Cinespia movie screenings at Hollywood Forever, as well as the recent early-morning Bon Iver concert there, it's probably easy to forget that oh, yeah, people are buried here.

The Art Deco Society of Los Angeles is throwing a walking tour this Saturday to help you get back in touch with the real, creepy reason that Hollywood Forever exists. The group's 26th annual Halloween-themed cemetery walking tour will include guided walking tours every 20 minutes from 10 a.m. to noon this Saturday, Oct. 10. Admission is $13.

Demille and many more.
