MIKE ON RADIO: Dodgers, Transformers and the Future of Film on KCRW's The Business

Back on this Monday's edition of KCRW's The Business, host Kim Masters and I banter about the latest hot entertainment business topics:
- With Time Warner Cable and other distributors locked in battle over SportsNet LA, there’s still no Dodgers on TV for most Angelenos

- The fourth ‘Transformers’ was a big win in for Paramount in China, but not without difficulties

- Directors band together to save movie film

Stay tuned after that for Kim's interesting interview with Greg Poehler -- Amy Poehler's brother and the writer/creator/star of NBC's summer sitcom "Welcome to Sweden."

MIKE ON RADIO: Discussing Hollywood's China Headaches on KCRW's "Hollywood Breakdown"

I'm back on KCRW's "Hollywood Breakdown" this week, talking movies. Specifically, Kim Masters and I talk about Hollywood's struggles with figuring out the China market. Details:

The fourth Transformers movie opens tomorrow, both in the US and China. Kim Masters talks with Michael Schneider, executive editor of TV Guide Magazine, about why Paramount is going to great lengths to make sure their latest movie is a hit in China, the second-largest movie market in the world. There's been glitzy premiers in big Chinese cities, lots of marketing tie-ins and even some casting done through a Chinese reality show. But not everything has gone smoothly. A dust-up in a Pangu Plaza over product-placement had Paramount executives on a last-minute plane to Beijing to smooth things over before tomorrow's opening.
