It's a Tie!
Apparently you shouldn't count on Maria and me for your Oscar picks next year. Sure, we both picked Best Picture ("Chicago") and Best Actress ("The Hours'" Nicole Kidman), while I got best supporting actor right ("Adaptation's" Chris Cooper) and Maria got best supporting actress ("Chicago's" Catherine Zeta-Jones). But beyond that, we sucked. We obviously didn't see the power of "The Pianist." Adrian Brody picked up best actor, Roman Polanski was best director, and the pic won best adapted screenplay. As for original screenplay, "Talk to Her" won the day. Apparently we should have listened closer to Entertainment Weekly, which predicted "Talk to Her's" victory. But again, no one guessed that "The Pianist" would do so well. That movie's fortunes just when through the roof. Hell, we're going to have to see it now!
