Caught a repeat episode this weekend of Food Network's "$40 a Day," featuring the hostess you love to hate to love, the 24/7 perky Rachael Ray.
For the uninitiated, the half-hour show follows Ray as she travels around the country (and globe) to find economical places to eat. The "$40 a Day" episode I caught followed Ray in Los Angeles.
Her picks are unsual: For breakfast, she stopped by Guelaguetza Palms restaurant on the Westside for a Oaxacan breakfast; followed by lunch in Malibu at Neptune's Net; a snack at the Elixir store on Melrose; and dinner at the Authentic Cafe on Beverly.
Too bad she doesn't make it east of La Brea. I can definitely vouch for Authentic, but we haven't hit Guelaguetza. And Neptune's Net doesn't sound like our thing, so I'll pass.
