Unfortunately, it doesn't look like the print version of news satire The Onion will be making it to Los Angeles anytime soon.
The Onion is about to expand its free print edition into Minneapolis/St. Paul; the paper is already available on sidewalks in Madison, Milwaukee, Chicago, Boulder, Denver and New York City.
And according to the Chicago Tribune, the Onion plans to spread further, by 2006 publishing in San Francisco, Boston and Austin, Texas. Onion publishers are also mulling entering the Atlanta, Washington and Ann Arbor, Mich. markets.
Sadly, L.A. doesn't appear to be in their plans. Yeah, I know, we can at least be content with the online edition (this week's top headline: "CIA Asks Bush to Discontinue Blog") -- but I first discovered the Onion as a printed pub in Chicago, and there's something more enjoyably subversive in reading it as printed word.
