Rate-A-Restaurant, #58 in a series

Restaurant: Din Tai Fung

Location: 1108 South Baldwin Avenue, Arcadia

Type of restaurant: Dumpling House

They stipulated: This is how you eat the dumplings, per the instructions on the chop sticks:

What we ordered: Juicy Pork Dumplings ($6.25), Juicy Pork/Crab Dumplings ($8.00), Noodle with Sesame Sauce ($4.00), Fried Beancurd Puff with Vermicelli Soup ($4.75), Sauteed Green Beans ($6.25), Red Bean Dumplings ($4.00)

High point: The dumplings -- so succulent, juicy and mighty tasty inside and the dumpling wrapper melts in your mouth as you take a bite. It was a treat to see the dumpling chefs, about 10 of them, in a small glass-encased room off of the reception area making their specialty.

Low point: The Fried Beancurd Puff with Vermicelli Soup -- this soup was bland and paled in comparison to the other dishes.

Overall impression: An authentic Taiwanese specialty restaurant, the dumplings are superb and a treat. The service was fast and a steaming hot plate of dumplings appear soon after you place your order. This is a very popular place and I heard that you'll surely have to wait if you go on the weekends, unless you are first in line.

Chance we will go back: Yes!
