Rate-A-Restaurant, #60 in a series
Restaurant:Arnie Morton's
Location: 3400 West Olive Avenue (in The Pinnacle Building), Burbank
Type of restaurant: Steakhouse
We stipulated: Maria was hungry for a burger... and conveniently, Arnie Morton's is located in her building.
What we ordered: Jumbo Lump Crab Cake (appetizer), Blackened Mahi-Mahi Sandwich (Mike), Morton’s Prime Sirloin Burger (Maria)
High point: Best, freshest crab cake we've had in recent memory. Plump pieces of crab and a tangy dipping sauce. Maria's burger also ended being exactly what she was looking for.
Low point: Mahi-Mahi sandwich was surprisingly disappointing. Too dry, not enough spice, and served with a lackluster cole slaw.
Overall impression: We were also very disappointed in the maitre'd. Because she was coming from work, Maria had a Depeche Mode CD in hand to give me. The maitre'd eyed it, and gushed on about how much she once loved the group. Maria, in her usual kindness, gave the woman the CD. Of course, the maitre'd thanked us with a free dessert, or something similar, right? Nope. Never heard from her again.
Also, nearly gagged on the way out when I saw the wall of Arnie Morton's regulars' wine cabinets. Smack dab in the middle: One for Ryan Seacrest.
Chance we will go back: It's likely -- when visiting Maria at work.
