Baby Steps
From everything I've been told, it looks like our home (and Franklin Avenue HQ) will soon be eligible for disaster relief funds.
Blogger Baby has taken his first steps.
They were shaky, panic-inducing steps. But they were steps! He first did it a few weeks ago (just shy of his ten-month mark), and now he can consistently hobble on for 10, 15 steps before gravity eventually wins out.
Every day, he gets just a little bit more confident. We never know when he's going to try again, but every once in a while he'll break free from holding on to a chair/the wall/mommy's pants and make a quick dash for it. Sometimes with a plastic toy or a small cracker in hand (which seem to help with his balance).
(Crawling, as seen above, has become a back-up mode of transporation -- a means to get to the chair/wall/mommy's pants.)
In mere weeks he'll be racing around our small house, which means my CDs aren't safe. We've started to baby proof, but short of sticking a helmet on Evan, bruises appear to be inevitable.
