A Post-Stern World

The months of rumors have finally been confirmed: Adam Carolla will take over as morning host on 97.1/KLSX-FM here in L.A. (and on four other stations across the west) after Howard Stern departs for Sirius satellite radio at the start of the year. Also as expected, ex-Van Halener David Lee Roth takes over in New York and across the east; a handful of other hosts will also fill the void.

In preparation of the change, Infinity Radio has rebranded most of its FM talk stations across the country as "Free FM" (an obvious dig at Sirius and satellite radio in general). Here's "97.1 Free FM's" new site.

Carolla is expected to officially announce tonight on "Loveline" that he's leaving that program; although, he's already been talking about his new morning gig for months, so it won't actually be much of a surprise.

A bunch of us visited the new Infinity radio studios on Wilshire a few weeks ago and caught a glimpse of the new 97.1 studio where Carolla will soon be broadcasting from. Nice digs.
