Rate-A-Restaurant, #97 in a series

Restaurant: Keo's Thai Cuisine

Location: 2028 Kuhio Ave., Honolulu

Type of restaurant: Thai

We stipulated: A nice sit-down restaurant that is kid-friendly.

What we ordered: Panang Curry with Scallops ($13.95); Thai Sticky Rice ($2); Mahi-Mahi stir fried with ginger and green onion ($13.95); Eggplant with Tofu ($10.95)

High point:Food: Harmonious medley of spice and flavor. Service: The waiter made some knowledgeable suggestions on our order and they were so on top of refilling our water.

Low point: Seeing tourists eating (western-style) steak in the restaurant -- people, this is a Thai restaurant. Also, there were very few scallops and fish in our dishes and the thai sticky rice was way too dry.

Overall impression: You have to forgive Keo's for putting steak and ribs on the menu so they can appeal to the tourists in this touristy part of town. Otherwise, the service was excellent and the flavors of the food were complex.

Chance we will go back: Sure, it's a nice stand-by in Waikiki.
