It's a Small Blog World After All

My post below about L.A. Blog Road Kill -- Blogspot and blogger accounts that took the name of local neighborhoods, only to let them lie dormant -- elicited several interesting responses.

But none more interesting than from the guy who's actually behind the Blog Road Kill I featured!

Earlier this week I pointed specifically to atwatervillage.blogspot.com, which was launched in 2003 with the promise to "talk about Atwater" -- only to never post another item again.

Atwater Village Newbie followed up on my post, noting that he/she tried to get the "atwatervillage.blogspot.com" domain, but had to settle for "atwater-village.blogspot.com" instead.

"At least I come up higher in searches," the Newbie reasons.

But here's where things get interesting: The person who actually launched the never-used "atwatervillage.blogspot.com" left a message at the Newbie's site, and made a rather nice gesture:

newbie, you have a great blog... would love to give you my vacant blog (atwatervillage.blogspot.com) so you can put it to good use. contact me luis@lopezautomotive.com

The Newbie wrote back and thanked Luis -- but now that he/she is already used to the hyphenated address, decided to pass.

Another poster here, meanwhile, noted that Blogger may actually shut down a Road Kill blog and hand you the domain if you can prove that the site is collecting dust.
