Eating Hawai'i

Eating LA's Pat Saperstein just got back from Oahu, where she sampled the local grindz and proclaimed it good.

Pat did her homework well, and ate like a true local: Spam musubi, loco moco (above), malasadas and even a li hing mui shave ice (with azuki beans and ice cream, of course). Damn, I'm jealous. Of course, lucky we live Los Angeles: Hawaiian grindz are easily found in our neck of the woods (even if the malasadas don't quite measure up to Leonard's, or the shave ice doesn't come close to Waiola or Matsumoto).

We ate through Hawai'i in March -- check out our recap here.
