Get a rare glimpse at downtown's Palace Theatre -- and an even rarer chance to screen a classic movie in one of Broadway's last remaining opulent movie palaces, as the LA Conservancy sponsors a Dec. 3 showing of "Miracle on 34th Street" at the Palace.
Notes the organization:
Kick off the holiday season with the Los Angeles Conservancy as we present the 1947 holiday classic “Miracle on 34th Street” at the historic Palace Theatre in downtown Los Angeles, one time only, on December 3, 2006, at 2:00 p.m.
Edmund Gwenn is unforgettable as Kris Kringle, the jolly old man who may (or may not) really, truly, be Santa Claus. Maureen O’Hara co-stars as the single mom bringing up her daughter (played by 9 year-old Natalie Wood) to be as no-nonsense as she herself is. Joining them is John Payne as the idealistic lawyer who tries to prove in court that, yes, there really is a Santa Claus.
Join us as one of the most beloved movies of all time returns to the silver screen, at the Palace Theatre in the heart of the bustling Broadway Theatre district! Bring your family and friends for an afternoon at the movies, and stay downtown for shopping, eating and ice-skating.
