Better Living Through Target

Tip o' the day comes from Atwater Village Newbie, who discovered the secrets of Target markdowns.

Apparently the last number of the price on those orange close-out price tags hold the key as to whether it will be marked down even further:

Here's a hint we learned years ago from a Target store manager. It seems to still hold true.

Full prices end in 9. Every time Target discounts, the final digit of the price drops. The lowest the final digit will go is 4. If you see something you want and the price ends in 4, buy it. You won't get it for less.

Not to make you jealous, but living in Glendale, we find ourselves Target-adjacent to several locations of our fave department store. (As a matter of fact, if we ever sell the house, we'll put that in the ad. Three Targets within a short drive.) There are the Eagle Rock and Burbank locations, and now Target plans to move into the Glendale Galleria.
