Gay Radio Coming to Los Angeles

According to sources at Radio-Info.com, Clear Channel is about to turn KBIG-FM's HD2 channel into "Pride Radio."

It would finally bring the format to Los Angeles -- strange that it's happening just now, given L.A.'s large gay population. Clear Channel has already placed the format on stations around the country -- even in Dallas-Ft. Worth. (And yes, this is conservative Clear Channel.)

Here's how Clear Channel describes the channel:

Pride Radio is music, entertainment and spoken word content especially for the Gay population. Coined as America’s Gay Channel, Pride Radio is guaranteed to satisfy your musical orientation, bringing a whole new feeling of pride.

The music is very high energy, with current dance and up-tempo tracks mixed with 80s gold. Here's the description on the Dallas-Ft. Worth page for Pride Radio, which promises "original mixes and re-mixes from artists like Madonna, Christina, Gwen, Justin, Scissor Sisters and more. And you know we’re bringin’ the Divas! Whitney, Donna Summer, and Janet Jackson all play here."
