O Hollywood Bowl! The Decemberists This Saturday
Franklin Avenue reader Jamie isn't the only one heading to the Decemberists show at the Hollywood Bowl on Saturday night. (Above, the 10-minute directors' cut of the Decemberists single "O Valencia.")
Yup, it's the very rare event that we deem babysitter-worthy. These days, Maria and I are forced to pass up some pretty interesting events... or just one of us (more frequently, me) winds up solo at the event, with the other staying behind to keep an eye on the Blogger Toddler.
But seeing the Decemberists -- a frequent presence on Franklin Avenue's Choice Cuts compilations -- performing with the L.A. Phil definitely fell under the definition of "babysitter-worthy." Making the show cooler, as others of you have noted, Band of Horses and Andrew Bird are opening.
It's been nearly two years since we last hit the Bowl. (Again, see: Blogger Toddler, Preventing of Attending Shows.) We've been pretty lucky when it comes to sneaking bottles of wine into the venue... but it was getting tougher to do so the last I checked. What are your secrets to smuggling goodies into the Hollywood Bowl?
