Rate-A-Restaurant, #139 in a series
(Flickr pic by Rise Industries.)
Restaurant: Luna Park
Location: 672 S. La Brea (Mid-Wilshire)
Type of restaurant: American/French/Italian
We stipulated: For years, the only spots close by my office to do business lunches were Ca Brea, Campanile or (sometimes) Sonora Cafe. In other words, the area was/is screaming for more.
They stipulated: In addition to their regular menu, Luna Park offers up a special of the day, which doesn't change week to week (depending on the day).
What we ordered: Because I usually go for lunch, without fail I get the White Fish Marinated in Yellow Curry with Cucumber Slaw, Mint and Cilantro ($10.50)
High point: The White Fish rarely disappoints -- particularly because it's more of a wrap than an actual sandwich. The curry and the slaw help make the sandwich/wrap something special.
Low point: Beware the valet parking. Not only is it one of the most expensive valets in town, but it's the slowest. I'm sometimes waiting a good 10, 15 minutes for my car. If you can, street park -- although that may be difficult to find.
Overall impression: When you can't decide where to eat, or have a table full of people with wildly different tastes, Luna Park is the perfect middle ground.
Chance we will go back: Already have another lunch on the books in the coming weeks at Luna Park. See you at the valet stand.
