End of the Line for KROQ's "Kevin & Bean" Christmas CDs

KROQ's "Kevin & Bean" morning show didn't release its annual Christmas CD this year -- and turns out that's a permanent change.

According to "K&B" producer Lightning, last year's CD (see above) was the last. "Takes wayyy too much time and sells too few copies to make a big impact to a charity," he emails. "Bummer, I know."

Bummer, indeed. I used to look forward to those CDs (and before that, tapes -- I wasn't here when the first one was released on vinyl). The CDs featured cool tracks such as Coldplay's rendition of "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas," along with vignettes from the "K&B" team and holiday-themed comedy bits by guests like Jon Stewart. Plenty can still be found on eBay.

Speaking of Kevin & Bean, how would you like their holiday schedule? They broke for the holidays last Wednesday, and have been in repeats since then! Must be nice. Then again, as the top-rated English-morning show in the 18-34 demo (at least, according to a recent L.A. Times article), the team -- which celebrates their 18th year on KROQ in 2008 -- have paid their dues.
