The 1980 Great Wilshire Walk

In 2006, we marched down Wilshire Boulevard with more than 50 of you; many of our friends (and yours, I'm sure) thought we were crazy.

But as much as Wilshire was designed with the motorist in mind, the boulevard's role as Los Angeles' main drag has drawn urban explorers for decades. People who didn't want to just experience Wilshire while speeding toward the ocean at 40 miles per hour. People who knew that Wilshire offered plenty on foot.

Franklin Avenue reader John Flynn recently emailed to let me know that his father-in-law "worked for Rand for a time in the 70's and 80's, and he and his colleagues did an annual walk the distance of Wilshire."
