Update time: We finally received our waste receptacles (with some resistance) from the city.
(Flashback to June: I called the city and they quickly informed me that two containers had been issued at our residence. I told them that we had just moved in and there were no such containers in our property.
She countered by giving me two ID numbers that had been stamped on the containers and advised us to look around our neighborhood on trash day to take back said containers.
"You want me to steal?" I stammered.
"Well, they stole first!" she replied.)
We scouted around the neighborhood, but never found those original trash bins. So we reported back to the Glendale sanitation department that we still couldn't find the containers assigned to the house.
They instructed us to call the Glendale Police and get a report number. I called back the sanitation department with the magic numbers and the next day, two brand-spanking new receptacles were outside our house. Whenever we spot a GPD squad car these days, we wonder if they are hard at work looking for our original, lost receptacles.
On a related note, the sanitation department refused to pick up our recycling last week because we had wood from our old kitchen cabinets in them. Since when is wood not recyclable? We had to wait another week to finally get rid of all the wood building up on our side yard.
Now that our waste issues are taken care of, how can we get rid of all the ants invading the house?
