Car Thieves: Fond'a Hondas

The 1995 Honda Civic topped the list of cars stolen in 2004, according to the Illinois-based National Insurance Crime Bureau. The Civic was followed by the 1989 Toyota Camry and 1991 Honda Accord.

It's probably no surprise that the Civic and Camry top the list, given how many of those cars sell each year. Apparently I managed to see my own first car, a 1996 Civic, get demolished (as seen above in June 2003 -- read my farewell blog post from two years ago here) before it had a chance to be stolen.

The org also says that vehicle theft was down 1.9 percent last year. From the AP:

A total of 1.2 million vehicles were reported stolen. Car thefts were down in all regions except the West, where they were up 36.2 percent over 2003, the NICB said Monday.

Rounding out the list of the top 10 most-stolen vehicles were the 1994 Dodge Caravan; the 1994 Chevrolet C/K 1500; the 1997 Ford F-150; the 2003 Dodge Ram; the 1990 Acura Integra; the 1988 Toyota Pickup and the 1991 Nissan Sentra.
