A New Morning Beat

More local radio changes in the works: 100.3 The Beat (KKBT-FM) will start airing Tom Joyner's syndicated morning show next month. That means John Salley's "Block Party" morning show will disappear after that.

Joyner was known in the late 80s and early 90s as the "Fly Jock" -- every day he DJed a morning show in Dallas, then hopped on a plane to do an afternoon show in Chicago. (Modern technology means these days he could have done both shows from one spot). This isn't Joyner's first attempt at cracking the L.A. market, but a past try didn't pan out.
